J. D. (John Douglas) Williams was born in Bell, California, on April 28, 1940. His parents were Doug (John Douglas) and Esther Scott Williams. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia in 2009. He is survived by his brother, Raymond (and wife Susan) living in Pasco, WA, and nieces Laura Jones (Kennewick, WA), Natalie Williams (Snoqualmie, WA) and Stephanie Williams (Tacoma, WA).

J. D. was raised in the LA area living in Bell, South Gate, Arcadia, Downey, and Bellflower. He is a graduate of Bellflower High School (1958), and received an Bachelor of Arts degree from Long Beach State College. After graduation, J. D. chose to reside in Downey, CA. J. D. was a member of the Downey First Baptist Church of Downey and was active in the Downey Y's Men's Club from 1964 to 1990.
J. D. married Patricia Ann Pyrah on June 4, 1976 at the First Baptist Church of Downey. They took residence in Downey on 3rd St. At that time J. D. was working with the Christian Jail Workers as a Chaplin. There he supervised chaplains for the L.A. County Probation Department and Juvenile Hall and Camps. In 1983, J. D. started as Operations Supervisor for Downey Savings and Loan.

In 1985, J. D. started his career in property management with Shepherd Development as a Field Representative for the construction the four-story office building that is houses the main branch of Downey Savings and Loan. He continued as the Property Manager of this building working for Long Property Management (Now American Capital Reality Group). This building was then managed by J. D. along the 300 other property accounts. In 2000, J. D. was named VP of Accounting at American Capital.

In 2005, J. D. was hired as the Facility Director for the First Baptist Church of Downey, which now included Office Management of the original Downey Savings and Loan building, owned by the First Baptist Church. In 2006, J. D. was diagnosed with cancer, a type that attacks the soft tissues in the body. He was able to win the battle until the cancer gained the upper hand late in 2011. Members of the Church help set up and support hospice in his home. J. D. passed away quickly on January 18, 2012.

In life, J. D. saw many juveniles and young adults whose lives could have been different. J. D. has touched many lives, and when possible, tried to make a deference.

The First Baptist Church of Downey will conduct a Memorial service in J. D.'s honor on January 28 at 10:00am. J. D. was an active member and employee of the Church.
