Berta Marie Olmos (92) was born on March 25, 1927 in Los Angeles, California to Jose Del Arroyo and Natividad Sanchez and entered into eternal rest on February 18, 2020 in San Gabriel, California.
For those of us who knew her, all of us could agree that she tackled things with an extreme sense of pride. Berta, Bertha, Bertie, Bert, B, Mom, Nanie lived life as best she could, overcoming obstacles and pushing forward for the benefit of her family and herself. Berta worked from the age of thirteen until her youngest child started school. Then came a career late in life as a business owner, running her very own “B’s Flowers” along with her daughters, Becky and Linda.
She was a Daughter, wife, mother, Sister, Tia, Comadre, Nina, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and a friend to all. At home she was CEO and CFO no doubt about it! Her bookkeeping was impeccable.
Berta loved dancing, music, laughing, sewing, doodling, purple, her roses and being creative.
Berta loved life, until it was slowly taken away from her. Eight years ago, she was diagnosed with Dementia, which manifested as Alzheimer’s disease. She eventually lost the ability of everything but would still surprise us with a burst of song or a chuckle or a wink.
Special thanks to her granddaughters, Andrea and Melissa, her grandson in law Alberto and especially to her great-granddaughter Luna, who never shied away and many times slept by her side
She leaves behind her loving Family: Husband of 65 years, Juan Diaz Olmos of San Gabriel, CA, Children, Connie Olmos of San Gabriel, CA, John Olmos (Katie) of Leander, Texas, Grandchildren: Jess Medina, Melissa Hesse, Christopher Medina, Nikolas Rodriguez, Andrea Gomez- Caro, Jared Reyes, Joey Olmos, Siblings, Alfonso Del Arroyo of Los Angeles, CA, Eva Uro of Azusa, CA, Great Grandchildren: Marcus, Brandon, Matthew, Jakob, Zachary, and Luna, numerous nieces and nephews, along with other family and friends who will love and miss her dearly.
