Lance Corporal Marco A. Barranco “Andy,” 21, of Montebello, CA passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020 off the coast of San Clemente Island during an amphibious operation training exercise. Andy was born June 13, 1999 in Los Angeles, CA. He was a son of Marco Barranco and Guadalupe Garcia, and is survived by his two sisters Catherine and Selma Barranco. In addition, Andy had his niece, unborn nephew, and his maternal grandmother Angela Moreno.
Lance Corporal Barranco served honorably with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
Shortly after Andy graduated from Montebello High School in 2018, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp to show his gratitude toward the country which gave his immigrant parents an opportunity to excel. He had dreams of continuing his service through law enforcement after completing his enlistment period. Andy is described by his friends and family as a fearless leader who knew how to love unconditionally and as an inspirational role model.
The family of Andy Barranco would like to especially thank everyone for the constant love and support they have received and the recognition this local hero has been given.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at Montebello Park on Saturday August 29, 2020 at 11:00 am to celebrate the life of Lance Corporal Marco A. Barranco; all are welcome.
