Alba Maria Kline was born on September 14th, 1933 in Mexico City to Haydee and Maurilio Vasquez. Alba came to the United States with her parents and brother, Carlos Vasquez, by way of Douglas, Arizona, on August 28th, 1945. Alba worked many office administrative jobs in Los Angeles and its surrounding areas when she met her husband, James G. Kline and was married on April 28th, 1972. She continued to work, until the adoption of their daughter, Analilia, who was born in Sonora, Mexico, on April 28th, 1979, on their 7-year wedding anniversary. Alba always spoke openly about her strong belief that Analilia was “meant for them”. She often referred to her favorite poem regarding adoption by Fleur Conkling Heyliger:
Not flesh of my flesh
Nor bone of my bone,
But still miraculously my own.
Never forget for a single minute,
You didn't grow under my heart
But in it.
Alba devoted her life to her family (including being her mother’s main caregiver as she aged) and as Analilia grew older, Alba volunteered for over a decade at Beverly Hospital in Montebello, a city where she would spend the majority of her life until the death of her husband, in March of 2022. They were married for 50 years. Analilia moved Alba to Fallbrook, CA to be closer to her and to coordinate her care, during her final months. Alba enjoyed living near Analilia and her husband Travis, and her grandchildren, Aidan and Marceline. Alba was always proud to tell people that her grandson was born on her birthday.
Alba leaves behind her only daughter, Analilia. She will be missed and remembered in the hearts of her family.
