Aminta Calderon Zamora Profile Photo
Aminta Fatima Calderon Zamora was a mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, nina, and friend. She transitioned out of this life surrounded by family members on August 20th, 2023 in Los Angeles, CA. Aminta was 61 years old. Her untimely death followed an arduous recovery from an open-heart surgery on August 18th, and over a decade of significant health challenges, that amazingly, never dampened her vivacious spirit. Aminta loved life and loved others and her legacy of love and comradery will be carried on by those whose lives she touched.

Aminta was born to Jaime and Esperanza Calderon on August 9th, 1962 in Los Angeles. She graduated in 1980 from Sacred Heart of Mary's High School in Montebello. She worked and retired from Pacific Bell, where she met her husband, Gabriel Zamora. Gabriel, Aminta and their 2 sons moved to Riverside in 1991, where they made a home for themselves and have resided ever since. She is survived by Gabriel, along with her two children, Christopher Calderon (Spouse: Brooke) and John-Paul Zamora (SO: Jackie), her granddaughter Persephone, and her brothers Jaime, Augusto, and Mario. Her spirit will also be carried on by an abundance of cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she loved very much.

Aminta enjoyed being in good company and naturally made everyone feel special. She was youthful in spirit and loved nothing more than having a good time with her family and friends. She remembered EVERYONE'S birthday! She loved Disneyland, the Dodgers, "Starbuckies", and music of all kinds, especially rock and roll, and had a very special place in her heart for The Beatles. She enjoyed long drives and road trips, concerts, searching far and wide for great food, and traveling, in particular to her “home in her heart,” London, England, a place she visited many times. Aminta was also able to travel to her parents’ home country of Nicaragua in 2017, where she was able to spend meaningful time in their birthplaces, visiting family who still reside there and visiting her father’s grave.

Aminta's life will be honored with a Rosary and viewing on Thursday, August 31 at 3:00 p.m. at Risher Mortuary in Montebello. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 1 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal in Montebello, and will be followed by a celebration and remembrance of her life at 2:00 p.m. at her home in Riverside.
