Antolina Lara de Ramirez, a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, passed away on March 18th, 2025, in Bakersfield, California. Tola as she liked to be called, leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and tremendous warmth. Tola was born on December 15th, 1937 in Huanusco, Zacatecas. Tola was a genuinely kind hearted person that befriended anyone. She had a loveable personality and enjoyed spending time cooking and storytelling. Being a homemaker and raising her children was the joy of her life.

Sra. Tola enjoyed spending time with family and friends over great food. There wasn’t a time Tola wouldn’t offer you anything she had in her home. If she knew of certain foods you liked, she would lovingly surprise you with that dish. Her joyous spirit was infectious, and she had a remarkable ability to draw people in with her tales, often keeping friends and family captivated for hours. Hard working to the very end, Tola always made sure to have enough to cover a roof and food on the table. Tola enjoyed eating “pitayas,” a regional food found commonly in Zacatecas. It was seasonal so, making a trip to Mexico was not uncommon when pitayas were in season. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. Family was paramount to Antolina. Always willing to make you something at home like tamales, buñuelos, pozole, gorditas or tortillas, literally anything she knew you liked in order to make your day, Tola was always willing to make you your favorite comfort food.

She is survived by her husband Jose as well as her loving sons and daughters: Jesus, Jovita, Enedelia, Hortencia, Ildelisa, Abdon, Bertha, Salvador, Magdalia, Guadalupe, Emma Marie, and Teresa who carry the wonderful memories she leaves behind. Sra. Tola also leaves behind beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A devout catholic, and follower of Our Lady of Guadalupe, she is welcomed to Heaven’s Gate and is reunited with her parents, and family she loved so much.

Her visitation will be held on April 9th, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary starting at 5:00 p.m. at Risher Mortuary in Montebello, California.
