Avis Isabel Blake, 88, was born on July 18, 1928 in Cicero, Illinois to John Farley and Marie Crisp and entered into eternal rest on June 30, 2017 in La Mirada, California.

After Avis graduated high school, she began her life-long career of over 60 years as a bookkeeper. She met William Blake while working part-time at a movie theater. They married in July of 1951 and welcomed their first child Kathleen Marie in 1952. Two years later William Scott was born and nine years after that they welcomed their last child, Cherie Ann. While her children were growing up, Avis was active in the Santa Fe Springs Women's Club and the local PTA. She also held the office of President for both organizations. Avis took a job as the bookkeeper for her church, Bethany Baptist in Whittier where she remained until her retirement 22 years later. She was a very active church member there and even created beautiful wedding cakes for many a bride. Avis made wedding cakes in her spare time and showed great talent in that area. She also took up oil painting later in life which she also excelled at. After retirement, Avis continued to be active at her church. She also began attending the Whittier Senior Center where she made some great friends who held a special place in her heart. Avis was an extraordinarily kind, compassionate and generous soul. She believed that Christians should lead by example and live as Christ would have and she did just that. Avis will be greatly missed by all the people whose lives she touched.

Avis is survived by her loving family: Daughter, Kathleen Blake of La Quinta, California, Son, William Blake, Jr. of Santa Fe Springs, California, Daughter, Cherie Blake of Whittier, California, Grandson, Scott Blake (Angela) of Newport Beach, California, Granddaughter, Anna Mack (David) of Placentia, California, Great-Granddaughter, Charlotte Mack of Placentia, California, Great-Grandson of Owen Mack of Placentia, California, Brother, Jack Farley of Oceanside, California, Twin Sister, Annabelle Rowe of Whittier, California, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
