BARBARA JANE RIENSTRA Profile Photo

Barbara Rienstra, a loving and thoughtful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, honesty, and deep devotion to her family. Known for her encouraging spirit and resourceful nature, Barbara lived a life marked by quiet strength and generosity. She worked faithfully as a nurse at Artesia Christian Home for 31 years, where her compassion and dedication touched countless lives. A wise steward of her resources, she poured her time and energy into what mattered most—her children, grandchildren, and her faith. Barbara found joy in simple pleasures: studying the Bible, gardening, walking, traveling around the US and Europe with Roland after they were both retired, as well as spending time with the family. She never missed a chance to cheer on her kids at sporting events and loved supporting her grandkids in all they did. A faithful Christian, Barbara served in the Coffee Break Ministry at BELL ONE CRC for over 30 years, impacting many with her gentle leadership and steadfast heart. Her love, quiet wisdom, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Roland Ray Rienstra, and their children: Rhonda Renae Beckwith (Dennis) of Azusa, Rachelle Rae Bouhassoun (Nordine) of Fuveau, France, Ryan Andrew Rienstra of Bellflower, and Rolynn Robin Rienstra of Long Beach. Barbara cherished her role as a grandmother to her grandchildren: Brooke Beckwith (James Lobb) of Seattle, Brandon Beckwith (Marissa) of Glendora, Brad Beckwith (Kaley) of San Dimas, Jade Bouhassoun of Paris, France, Jasmine Ouerfelli (Mehdi) of Fuveau, France, Jonah Bouhassoun of Paris, France, Lindsay Rienstra of Upland, and Lily Rienstra of Upland. Additionally, she was proud to be a great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren.

Barbara also leaves behind her siblings, including Shirley Ruddell (Gary) of La Mirada, Richard Van Gronigen (Barbara) of Manhattan Beach, and Al Van Gronigen (Lori) of Hanford. She was a cherished aunt to five nieces and six nephews, who held a special place in her heart..

The memorial service will be held at Bell One Christian Reformed Church on May 24 at 11:00 AM. Lunch will be provided after the service.

As we remember Barbara Jane Rienstra, we celebrate a life rich in love, commitment, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
