Benito R. Ahumada, 99, was born on July 10, 1924, in Los Angeles, California to Pedro and Josefina Ahumada, and entered into eternal rest on March 12, 2024, in Montebello, California.
Raised alongside his brother, Gustavo, Benito's early years saw the family relocating to El Amole, Sinaloa, when he was just a toddler. Sadly, the loss of his mother at the tender age of 3 marked a significant moment in his childhood. Around the age of 12, the family shifted once more, this time settling in Mexicali, where his tia Queta played a vital role in his upbringing, providing him with the love and care akin to that of a mother.
In his late teens, Benito returned to California, where fate led him to Marguerita, whom he married after six months. Together, they embarked on the journey of parenthood, blessed with seven children. After Marguerita's passing, Benito found love again and married Antonia in 1970.
Throughout his career, Benito worked diligently as a scaler/packer in the meat industry within the Los Angeles area. Despite his humble beginnings, he held steadfast to his values, never allowing them to falter.
Benito was a remarkable man, his true wealth was found in the love and adoration of his cherished children, whom he referred to as his tesoro. He held the esteemed position of patriarch within his family, embodying the spirit of the "Greatest Generation." With his passing, it feels as though an entire era has drawn to a close, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, love, and unwavering values.
Benito is survived by his loving family: Children, Josie Ramirez, Armida "Millie" Martinez, Benito Ahumada Jr., Linda Ahumada, Edward "Lalo" Ahumada, Irene Meza, and David Ahumada, Stepchildren, Lala Ramirez and Marcos Pena, 15 Grandchildren, 28 Great-Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great-Grandchildren.
