Bertha Valdez, 86, was born on April 28, 1925 in El Paso, Texas and grew up in San Miguel, New Mexico. She passed away on November 11, 2011 in Montebello. She previously was employed as a corporate secretary for Physical Distribution for 18 years, but finished her working career at Quaker Bank, in Whittier, Ca.
Bertha had a very strong faith in God, and was a wonderful wife and mother. She loved to sing and dance and music was a big part of her life. Bertha was an eternal optimist, humble, compassionate, engaging, and was a great listener, amazing cook and homemaker. She always took care of others first. She lit up the room with her smile, especially with her huge dimples.
Visitation services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 5-9:00 pm in the Risher Montebello Mortuary chapel. A Catholic Vigil service will be at 7:00 pm also in the chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 9:00 am at St. Benedict church. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
She is survived by her sons, Anthony Valdez of Bakersfield, Steve Valdez of Placentia and Robert Valdez of Yorba Linda and her daughters, Catherine Valdez of Montebello and Christine Valdez of Whittier. She also leaves 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
