Nuestra madre Blanca “Xochitl” Ibáñez, de 56 años, falleció el jueves 21 de septiembre de 2023. No hay palabras para describir lo que significó para todos nosotros. Ella era luz, risa y alegría, un torbellino de empatía y tenacidad.
Se siente cruel reducirla a un par de frases sobre de dónde era, dónde vivío, o dónde trabajó cuando era mucho más que eso. Amaba a su familia y a sus amigos, y amaba su trabajo, y ahora ya no importa nada más. Como saben todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla, ella siempre encontraba un motivo para sonreír y ayudaba a todos a su alrededor a hacer lo mismo. Como ella siempre decía: “Don’t worry, be happy.”

Our mother Blanca “Xochitl” Ibanez, aged 56, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023. There are no words to describe what she meant to all of us. She was light, laughter, and joy, a whirlwind of empathy, and tenacity.
It feels cruel to reduce her to a few sentences about where she was from, where she lived, or where she worked when she was so much more than that. She loved her family and friends, and she loved her job; and that’s all that’s important now. As all who had the privilege of meeting her know, she always found a reason to smile and helped everyone around her do the same. Like she always said, “Don’t worry, be happy.”
