Calvin David “Dave” Chappell, 66, was born on September 6, 1951 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Rufus Chappell and Gladys Compton. He entered eternal rest on July 25, 2018 in Long Beach, California.

With hard-working hands and dedication, Dave employed his skills as an engineer serving in the aerospace industry for over 30 years. He worked for Fairchild Corporation, Textron, United Drill Bushing, and Shultz Steel in quality assurance and inspection.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served in the Philippines and Italy. He obtained above Top Secret clearance, and served in the capacity of Morse code intercept and cryptanalysis. He earned an honorable discharge for his years fighting bravely for our country’s freedom. Dave will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery with military honors.

Out of the military, Dave was no stranger to service. His life revolved around service to God, family, country, and community. In the community of Downy, Dave and Kathleen started “The Master’s Hand” ministry (1997-2006) which helped needy and homeless families with food, clothing, and the salvation message of the gospel. They traveled on a mission trip to help the communities devastated by Hurricane Katrina in Biloxi, Mississippi. From 1991-1996, they served at the Calvary Chapel, Downey in the Celebrating Marriage ministry. From 1993-present, they hosted Open House for The Marriage Encounter ministry and were prayer couples. Last, but far from the least, they served as escorts with the Patriot Guard Riders. Individually and as a couple, their lives revolved around service!
