Carl Eugene Siders, 89, was born in Van Wert, Ohio on November 27, 1921 and passed away on September 13, 2011 in Baldwin Park.

Mr. Siders was previously employed with Ralphs Grocery as a Produce Warehouseman and had been in grocery retail for 60 years. He was given an Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy and served during WWII.

Mr. Siders was a proud Veteran and loved to talk about his WWII experiences, especially that he was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a Gunner's Mate on board various Navy battle ships, and was a member of the American Legion in Monterey Park. He worked with Chiquita Bananas in the Arden Mayfair Markets for years, and volunteered at the Workman Homestead Museum in La Puente. Carl was one of the Head Ushers at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. He loved to fish, loved his dog, Lele, enjoyed driving to the mountains to get away, was quite the ladies man. Everyone knew him as "Grandpa Carl." His favorite phrase was "give it to me. Is that all you've got?" He loved talking to children in his Donald Duck voice. He had a green thumb and could grow anything, shook everyone's hand and was an Honorary Sheriff for the Los Angeles Sheriff's Dept. He especially loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 5-9pm in the Risher Montebello Mortuary Chapel and Reception Center. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 29l, 2011 at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, with interment following that day at the National Cemetery in Riverside.

He is survived by his daughter, Carol Ybarra of Fontana, , his grandchildren, Daniel D. Ybarra of Monterey Park, Jeanette L. Escobedo of San Clemente, Ryan K. Ybarra of Lake Elsinore and Eric S. Ybarra of Colton. He also leaves 6 great grandchildren and his siblings, Betty Jean Wilson of Indiana and Charles Siders of Tennessee.
