Carmen F. Casillas was born in Los Angeles on August 30, 1924 and passed away In Montebello on April 17, 2012. She was raised on Catalind Island until she was 14 years old and loved to go back there to visit.
Carmen was previously a Medical Assistant for Dr. Fox and the Montebello Cardiology Group for 25 years. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Carmen loved ballroom dancing and was a folklorico dancer when she was younger. She loved fine dining and traveling up and down the West Coast.
Carmen was Past President of the Woman's Club of Los Nietos and was responsible for raising funds for the old Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Mission, helping to turn it in to the Church that it is today. She was a survivor and had survived 15 years of tuberculosis.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 12:00pm at DePaul Center, 1105 Bluff Rd., Montebello with interment following at Resurrection Cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Tony (Bertha) Casillas of Montebello, her grandchildren, Daniela Moreno of Corona, Tony Casillas Jr. of Whittier, Claudine Casillas of San Diego, Christopher Casillas of Montebello, Anthony Casillas of East Los Angeles, Frank Miranda of Montebello, Kelly Esquivel of Burbank and Tracy Esquivel of Temecula. She also leaves her brothers, Richard Fierro of West Covina, Ernie Fierro of Azusa and Henry Fierro of Perris.
