Cecelia Winzola Schmidt McSherry was born on April 22, 1928, in Los Angeles General Hospital. Her dad was Robert Leroy Schmidt (July 14, 1902). Dad named her Daisy Louise Schmidt. But her mom, Norma Peggy Falkovitch Schmidt (April 17, 1906) wouldn't allow it; so her name was changed to Cecelia Winzola Schmidt, after Norma's best friends. Cecelia's brother, Robert Charles Schmidt, was a bit older. After Cecelia, her twin sisters, Dolly Ingram and Dorothy Ross, and her youngest brother was Phillip Norman Schmidt.

She married Clifford Joseph McSherry (9/5/1920-12/13/1969) on January 17, 1948. Eleven months later, her son, Robert Alan McShen•y (12/13/1948-10/28/2012), was born. And less than two years later, her daughter, Marilou Cecelia McSherry (11/18/1950) was born. Two weeks later, they moved to the town of Rivera, California. Even though the town is now the city of Pico Rivera, she's lived there ever since (over 65 years).

Before she married, Cecelia was a Cosmetologist, with Marinello's School of Beauty. However, she loved to draw. When she met Cliff, he was an commercial painter. So, after they married, they started commercial painting together. They liked working together. Then Cliff decided that with a new family, Cecelia would take care of their little ones and Cliff went to work with the Golden Crust Bakery, then National Life Insurance Company. After the children went to school, Cecelia went to work at Raisin Market as a deli manager (next door to the original McDonald's in Downey, California). Loving her work, Cecelia then managed two market delicatessens with Market Basket.

Cecelia and Cliff wanted their children to study at St. Marianne de Parades school. It would cost $10 a month, but it would be worth it. Cecelia and Cliff went to church every Sunday. Their passion was their children and their church. For the next ten years, you could find them any day at St. Marianne's. Cecelia loved her friends, the nuns, the school sisters of Notre Dame. Cliff was always with Pastor Herve Trebol, talking about WWII. Their favorite project was the annual bazaar. One year, they were short of funds. So, Cliff painted a life-sized porü•ait of Cardinal McIntyre and gave it to the church. They were able to sell it for $5,000.00 and that year was content.

She lived, loved and was well-known in Pico Rivera, since 1950. She was a converted Catholic who loved the Lord, and her parish, St. Marianne's. She was a remarkable woman whose life touched so many. She taught her family about love and acceptance of everyone, and had an open door and unending hospitality to not only her family, but everyone. She extended her home and took care of her mom and her mother-in-law in the 1960's. Then took in a 17 year-old girl who became to be called "Jolly K", the Parents Anonymous founder. Later, Cecelia took in nieces and nephews that needed someone to take care of them, and she loved them all.
