Chris George Pelonis, 96, was born on March 12, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois to George and Nicoleta Pelonis and entered into eternal rest on May 21, 2018 in Los Alamitos, California.
Chris was greeted at Heaven's gate by his loving wife of over 38 years, Andronikki Pelonis, Brothers and sisters: Anne Newlee, Irene Pelonis, Leo Pelonis, Timmy Pelonis, and Son-in-law, Jim Berry, who preceded him in death.
With a dream to "serve the best BBQ in the world," Chris was the hard working creator and owner of Chris & Pitts BBQ Restaurant since 1940 which now has restaurants in Bellflower, Downey, and Whittier. Chris was also Veteran of the United States Army and earned an Honorable Discharge for his years bravely fighting for our freedom.
Chris leaves behind his loving family: Daughter, Debbie Berry of Huntington Beach, California, Son, Chris Pelonis (Kim) of Santa Barbara, California, Grandson, James Berry of Huntington Beach, California, Granddaughter, Andronikki Berry of Huntington Beach, California, Grandson, Christian Pelonis of Santa Barbara, California, Granddaughter, Jessica Pelonis of Santa Barbara, California, Great-granddaughter, Clara Berry of Huntington Beach, California, Brother, George Pelonis (Arlene) of Los Alamitos, California, as well as several other family members and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
