Christopher Ray Martinez, 37, was born in Los Angeles on November 30, 1978 and passed away in Orange County on December 1, 2015 from a sudden illness. He was previously employed as a Caretaker in the Home Health Care industry.
A Viewing time will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Risher Montebello Mortuary Chapel. The casket will be closed at 7:00 PM at the start of the Celebration of Life service and will not be reopened for the remainder of the evening per the family's request. A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 11:30AM at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
Chris was born into a family that consisted of his father Raymond, mother Gloria and sister Missy. He brought so much love, joy and laughter into their home. His extended family consisted of grandparents (Big Ray & Mary, Big Sam & Minnie, Adel & Frances), great grandma (Granny) great aunt (Martha), along with so many uncles, aunties and cousins. He was surrounded by so much love and lots of family gatherings. The true definition of good times.
Both of his parents later remarried. That is where he gained step-parents and step-brothers. A blessing that came from his mom’s new marriage was his baby brother Danno. His extended family grew and included more love and more family gatherings.
His dad being a musician taught Chris to play the guitar when he was in Jr. High School. It was then that his love for playing music began. He attended and graduated from Los Angeles County High School for the Arts in 1996. Chris was very talented and the school laid such a great foundation for his music.
Amongst his peers he became a legend in the music and art world. He touched so many people's lives. He was inspirational, motivating and has left so many artist touched forever.
In addition to being an artist Chris was the caretaker for both of his parents. At first he was taking care of his lovely mother Gloria. He later included taking care of his dad who had suffered a massive stroke.
He went to Texas to take care of be with his beloved grandpa Adel until his passing.
Chris lost his beloved mom unexpectedly on 5/13/2010. The sudden loss of his mother changed his life forever.
Chris and his wife Val started their relationship as best friends. Val fell in love with all of the amazing characteristics of Chris. They were blessed with the birth of their daughter Minnie Adela Myers Martinez on 3/21/2011. It is no surprise that Chris was an amazing father. You could see and feel the love for daddy's little girl.
He was employed as a full time Caretaker in the Home Health Care Industry. He did the best he could to provide for his family while at the same time taking on the challenge of caring for his father again.
Chris left this world too soon is an understatement. He touched so many people with his big heart and talent. He made his family feel loved and feel that they mattered. Below are some of the words used to describe him amongst his friends and peers in the world of the Arts.

Christopher is survived by his wife, Valerie Myers, his daughter, Minnie Adela Myers Martinez, both of Los Angeles, his father, Raymond Martinez Jr. of Anaheim, his sister, Melissa (Demetrius) Mitchell of Chino Hills, his brother, Daniel (Miranda) Gutierrez of Whittier, and his grandfather, Raymond Martinez Sr. of Montebello. He also leaves his niece, Monique Mitchell and nephew, Jayson Mitchell, both of Chino Hills.
