Conrado Mejia Romo, 89, a devoted father who fiercely loved his family, especially his beloved grandchildren and the great grandchildren whom he delighted in, died on Feb. 4, 2016, at home surrounded by love. Born Oct. 26, 1926 in East Los Angeles, he was the son of Andrea Mejia Gonzalez and Juan Castaneda Romo, from Rincon de Romos, in the state of Aguascalientes, Mexico. Conrado grew up in Mexico, but in 1945 returned to the U.S. where he obtained work as a painter and maintenance man for the Southern Pacific Railroad, where he worked for over 45 years. The rest of his family followed him to Los Angeles. In 1952, Conrad married Maria Evangelina Perez, who passed away on July 4, 1987.
Conrad is survived by his six children: daughter Leticia and her husband Lawrence Shea; son Conrad C. Romo; son Jaime Romo and his wife Philomena; daughter Marina Romo; son Rene Romo and his wife Heather; and daughter Teresa Romo; 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Conrad also leaves behind brother Francisco Romo of Orange, sister Rebecca Romo of Los Angeles, and numerous nieces and nephews.
