Our beloved Corey Gene Edwards went to be with our Lord Jesus on May 11, 2024. Corey lived with his wife, Lydia, and their recently adopted rescue dog, Annie, in La Habra, CA. Unexpectedly, Corey suffered cardiac arrest and did not recover although all measures were taken to revive him at Anaheim Regional Medical Center.
Corey was born in Vermillion, South Dakota where he lived an adventurous life of fishing and hunting with his father, Ron Edwards, mother Marilyn, brother Kenny and sister Margie. His zest for life and adventure enriched his life so that in later years, he became a story teller like his father, always sharing entertaining experiences that he had lived. When he was young, his father moved the family to Downey, CA.
Some of Corey's friends (Brothers) have known each other since kindergarten! They played football and
baseball while in Jr. High and High School. He loves spending time with his Brothers and they are a close knit group to this day!
Corey lit up a room whether he was with his family, and friends or when he was with clients doing their home inspections. Everyone loves Corey and Corey loves people, animals, especially dogs, and the beauty he experienced on road trips! Corey & Lydia called their trailer, their home away from home as they traveled to Montana to visit his two Brothers, Bolsa Chica Beach for the weekend, and many other destinations! He worked very hard and going on road trips was a time of renewal, adventure, and excitement for Corey.
God blessed Corey with many talents such as his ability to sing! He had a powerful voice and chose songs that brought such joy to those who went to see him at music venues, open mic, weddings, birthday parties, or wherever people asked him to play. He was an excellent writer, remodeled homes, competed in dirt bike races where he won trophies in his thirties, he was an excellent skier, loved the river and his boat, loved flying an airplane and so much more!
Corey was a passionate man, a very patient man, a man who had many goals and who worked hard at
everything he did! Corey had a great sense of humor! He knew no strangers because he engaged in
conversation easily with others and they cared for him immediately!
Corey is survived by his wife Lydia, and their relationship and marriage was one filled with unconditional love and excitement! Corey became a stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather through marriage to Lydia. The family loves Corey immensely and he shared his heart, life, and adventures with the family.
He leaves behind his father, Ron Edwards, stepmother Darlene Fischer, sister Margie, and brother in law Steve McCoy, step sister Pam, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends!
