Donald Carlyle Johnston, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, was born in Watseka, Illinois in 1922.

After spending his first 15 years in the Midwest, Don moved with his mother and sister to Southern California, where he lived for the rest of his life, including over 57 years in the same Downey home.

Don married his beloved wife Mary in 1942, spending almost 71 years together before Mary's passing in 2013.

Don pursued various careers before settling on managing and owning aircraft parts distribution companies and he later become a successful financier and real estate investor.

Don's hobbies and interest included classic cars, farming and ranching, politics, and Downey history and he held many church leadership roles throughout the years. He loved reading and his benevolence was well known.

Don is survived by his daughter Dianne Pearce (Irvin) of Arroyo Grande, California; Jack Johnston (Teri) of Hayden Lake, Idaho; and Richard Johnston (LeAnne) of Tampa, Florida, as well as five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

A private burial at Rose Hills Memorial Park will take place.
