Donald Joseph Kelly, 81, was born in Colorado Springs, CO. on June 27, 1931 and passed away in Seal Beach, CA. on April 11, 2013 following a lengthy illness. He retired as a Sergeant Major from the United States Army. During his twenty six year military career he served one tour in Vietnam, two tours in Korea and three tours in Germany. He was also a Distinguished Marksman and spent several years on the 6th Army Pistol Team, among others.
Subsequent to his retirement from the Army Donald worked for an electronics sales, repair and import/export business in Long Beach, CA for over fifteen years. He enjoyed his many bowling leagues with friends and traveling to Army and family reunions.
Mr. Kelly is survived by his son, Thomas (Lynda) Kelly of Lakewood, CA., his brothers John Kelly and Marvin Kelly of Colorado, his sister Idie Friedman of Tomball, TX., and his partner and companion, Dottie Anderson of Seal Beach. He was born to Leslie Roy and Beulah Brooks Kelly and was preceded in death by his wife Helga Kelly, brothers Wayne and Elwood Kelly and sisters Glendeyeone Stanifer and Bernadine Baugh.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 1:00pm at Green Hills Memorial Park Chapel, 27501 S Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Military Honors will be given at the graveside. Rev. Don Keith will officiate over the Funeral Service.
