Donald Kenneth Moore, 78, of Anaheim California, passed away on January 31, 2023, peacefully in his home where he and his wife Leslie reside.
Don was born on August 15, 1944, to Donald and Alice Moore in Sioux City, Iowa. Don graduated from Central High School in 1962, he went on to serve in the U.S. Navy for the country that he truly loved.
Since birth, cousins that were inseparable. Connie Primrose was Don's cousin and like a sister to him. They would go to Angel games and summer outdoor concerts, which Don loved. Roy (Hap) Lambert was Don’s cousin and the three were the tightest trio. He was able to spend 2 weeks just this August to see Hap and enjoy life in Washington. Gary Lambert was Hap's son, married to Marie and lived in Washington as well. They made dinners together while Don was in Washington, especially Gary's homemade taco Tuesdays. The love and hospitality will be something kept close to the hearts that new Don knowing that he was taken care of and loved and had such a blessed experience by his family in these recent days. Kim Fullmer, Connie’s daughter, Nikki Lambert, Hap's daughter, Marty Lambert, Hap's son married to Bobbi, were loved by Don and his forever family.
Don’s family and friends meant the world to him. If you gave him 100 percent of your love and time, he gave you 200 percent back. His friends of 50+ years Jim Hoadley and Sharon Hoffman and their children Wendy Herring, Todd Russell, Darla Salcido, Randy Tyler and Travis Hoffman were loved like his own. Jim was his best friend that he called his brother, they did all the exciting things together like bowling, shooting pool, surfing, they loved the car races, and most important SPORTS (basketball, baseball and football). Don was so grateful to call this family his extended one.
In 2013, Don met Leslie at the place they both resided in Anaheim, California. Don pursued her by showing his love in his cooking for her and leaving flowers on her doorstep. They fell in love, and went on to get married in 2017 on Don’s birthday. What a special day that was. The love they shared was truly seen by anyone who was around them. You could see it when they looked at each other, and the way they were affectionate with one another. They completed each other.
In 2017, Donald retired from landscaping for Beckman High school in Tustin, California his pride and joy, and spent his time with Leslie every day. They took on bowling leagues and board games with friends. He loved landscaping and planting at home his favorite succulents. His most desired place to be was at the beach and to be in the California weather. He really appreciated Gods creation and all the little things in life. Don loved going to the horse races, baseball, and football games, especially the ones his grandkids played in, He was a dedicated sports watcher at home, even those long golf tournaments. Most importantly Don and Leslie together, attended special functions and spent lots of time with their family and close friends, this is where his heart was.
Donald Kenneth Moore lit up our life and made it whole. He made everyone happy that he was around and was simply put “a loving man”. Donald will be missed by so many and his memory will be cherished and remembered forever.
Don is survived by his wife Leslie and his precious dog Fiona. Siblings, Terry VaDeer and Lynda Rosenmerkel. Children, Dana, Diana, Ryan and Ashley. His step- children, Aaron, Brian and Ashley. His grandchildren, Brianna, Jack, Koby, Kai, Christopher, Kaleena, Brecken, Kennedy, Danielle, Alex, and Mariah. Great grandchildren, Nailea, Zulia, Ailani, Peyton, and Taytum.
Services will be held at Riverside Veterans National Cemetery on March 24th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to help with the funeral costs to help the surviving spouse by using Zelle (714-321-5529).
