Dora Cruz Valdez was born to Julian Arias and Laura Cruz in El Salvador on September 7, 1925 and entered into eternal rest in Montebello, California while surrounded by her loving family on August 26, 2015. She was 89 years old. Previously, Dora was employed as a hospital housekeeper for East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital for over 40 years.
Dora was a person who loved to cook. Often she would be seen cooking 50 or more chiles rellenos for Dr. Max Offenberg and Marie his wife. Around Christmas- tamales were her specialty and she always made them with pork meat and red chile and always with a black olive. Around New Year eve, Dora was back in the kitchen making some wonderful bunelos and the entire house smelled of sweet cinnamon. She never tired of cooking and always from scratch. She was a friend to many as she did not have any relatives in California for a long time. She had friends through work, her daughters school and neighbors that would also become longtime friends like the Segura's, Avilas, Silva's, Terzi's and the Frangiacomo Family. She loved Lincoln Heights and while she also liked Montebello, her roots were firmly planted in Lincoln Heights and with the Sacred Heart Family.
Dora is survived by her daughter Lupe (Enrique Valenzuela) Valdez of Montebello, grandson Enrique Zenon Valenzuela of Montebello, granddaughter Guadalupe Dora Campos of El Salvador and grandson Moises Campos of El Salvador. She also leaves behind her sister Maria Cruz Arias of Milwaukee WI, sister Mercedes Cruz of El Salvador, brother Julio Cruz Arias of El Salvador, brother Jose Cruz Arias of El Salvador as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dora was greeted at Heaven's Gate by her loving son Salvador Campos Cruz and husband Zenon Valdez who preceded her in death (1985).
