Dorothy Weber, 78, a loving mother, grandmother, enthusiastic volunteer and entrepreneur, died peacefully November 10, 2011 in Newport Beach, California. She was born June 25, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York, the only child of Max and Muriel Weber.

Dorothy graduated with honors from Samuel J. Tilden High School, Brooklyn, New York in 1952. She then moved on to Cornell University where she earned a her Bachelor of Architecture, Class of 1956, with an induction into L'Ogive, the Architectural Honor Society.

For over 50 years, Dorothy accomplished a long list of volunteerism in both civic organizations and charities. On March 27, 2001, Dorothy was bestowed with the highest and most prestigious honor of the Boy Scouts of America, The Silver Beaver Award, for her 40 years of service to the Long Beach Council. The Boy Scouts of America recognizes the need to acknowledge the invaluable services that men and women render to youth. Of the millions of registered adult volunteers in Scouting, only a select few are presented with this distinguished service award.

Her list of civic organizations and charities include, but are not limited to: Cornell University Alumni Association Executive Board VP & various Committee Chairs (48 yrs), College Park Estates HOA (35 yrs), Girl Scouts of America (25 yrs), PTA (24 yrs... where in 1973 she received the Honorary Life Membership Award), House of Triumph/St. Jude's Brain Injury Network Executive Board (8 yrs), National Affordable Housing Foundation Executive Board (8 yrs), Association For Humanistic Psychology President & Executive Board (16 yrs), Charisma Society Founder & President (5 yrs), Solo Association Co-Founder & Director (8 yrs), Auslich Ski Club, Founder (8 yrs), Los Altos Little League (10 yrs), AYSO Soccer (8 yrs), and Seal Beach PONY Baseball and Softball (4 yrs).

She was also a member of Long Beach Museum of Art, Long Beach Playhouse, Long Beach Opera Association, Urban League, Association of Architectural Historians, Southern California Conservancy, Association of Noetic Sciences, National Association of Realtors, California Association of Realtors, Pacific West Association of Realtors, American Institute of Architects, Women's Architectural League, and National Association of Home Builders and Building Industry Association.

Dorothy Weber is survived by daughter Marianne Leigh Kelsey (spouse Adam); her three children (Kahleb, Genevieve, & Seth), son Jonathan Matthew Grossgold (spouse Lori); his two children (Mackenzie & Kendal), and son Peter William Andrew Grossgold (spouse Christina); and his three children (Tyler, Cooper & Carter). Dorothy was preceded in death by her son Matthew Erik Grossgold.
