Edna Frances Loose

Edna Frances (McNamara)Loose of Montebello, CA, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on March 7, 2012, in Anaheim, California, at the age of 90 of complications of heart disease. Edna was born on the family farm in Paxton Township, Redwood County, Minnesota on March 3, 1922, to Franklin and Edna McNamara. She grew up on the family farm attended country school before graduating from high school in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.
Edna married Vernon Loose from Morgan, MN on October 29, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan.
Edna and Vernon lived in several communities in Minnesota where Vernon was employed as a school teacher. From 1950 to 1961, they lived in Lamberton, where Edna was employed as a postal clerk. Vernon taught high school English and speech, directed the class plays, and served as the school librarian. In 1961 Edna and Vernon moved from Lamberton, Minnesota, to Montebello, California. Edna worked as a retail sales clerk for 20 years and was a member of the Southern California General Sales Employers United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 324. She retired in 1982. Vernon worked for the Montebello Unified School District for 25 years as a teacher, librarian, and assistant principal of instruction. He retired in 1986.
Edna loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Her family and friends admired Edna for her courage, wisdom, and loyalty. She was a devout Catholic and very proud of her Irish heritage. Edna's hobbies included collecting vintage dishes and toothpick holders, gardening, traveling with her family, following Angels' baseball, and listening to Irish music.
Edna is survived by her daughter Sandra J. Loose of San Gabriel, CA and her sons Thomas M. (Edie) Loose of Yorba Linda, CA, William V. (Darlene) Loose of Rosemead, CA, and Kent P. (Christine) Loose of Orange, CA. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, her sister, Alice Green of Golden Valley, MN, and many nieces and nephews. Edna was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Loose, who passed away in 1989. She was also predeceased by her two brothers Aubrey McNamara and Donald McNamara, her sisters Verla Rathmanner, Margaret Farenbaugh, Ila Routhe, and Eunice Miller, and daughter-in-law Margie (Miller) Loose.
Visitation was held on Sunday, March 11, 2012, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the Risher Montebello Mortuary Chapel, 1316 W. Whittier Blvd., Montebello, CA. The rosary was held at 8:00 p.m. on the same evening. Mass of the Christian Burial took place on Monday, March 12, 2012, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 1022 W. Cleveland Avenue, Montebello, CA, at 10:30 a.m. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery in Montebello, CA.
