Edward James Taylor Jr., 69, was born in St. Louis, MO. on July 14, 1942 and passed away in Montebello, CA. on April 10, 2012.
Ed's 25 year printing career includes stops along the way at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, the Racing Form, and the Hollywood Reporter. From printing Ed launched into the medical field helping and serving others until his retirement. He especially loved caring for the older infirm patients, listening to their engaging life stories. A very kind, thoughtful, and selfless man, Ed loved his wife and family, spending so much of his time having fun with his grandkids where the Shorleline Village of Long Beach was often their destination for pretzels, hot sauce, hats, and the arcade. Ed coached, watched, and cheered on his son in both baseball and football while he was growing up and did his best to never miss one of his grandkid's games, videotaping so many of them. He was known to take his daughter on frequent motorcycle rides when she was young always bringing her home safely. He loved to read, listen to country music, watch TV, especially Jeopardy. The pool was a special place for him to keep warm while reading his Bible.
Ed was a man of God, attending services at Calvary Chapel in Downey regularly. When he wasn't able to make it physically, it was not uncommon to find him in front of his computer, listening to or watching the services live online from Calvary Chapel in Aurora, Colorado. He was a hard worker his entire life, working diligently to provide for his family, and continued that work ethic after his retirement donating many weeks of faithful service at Calvary Chapel Whittier.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 10:00am at Calvary Chapel Whittier, 12817 Hadley St., Whittier, Ca.
