Elizabeth Ann Neighbors Profile Photo
Elizabeth Ann Neighbors, 75, was born in Illinois on March 6, 1938 and passed away in Whittier, Ca. on November 18, 2013. She was a business owner of Crafty Cans for 22 years.

Written by her children.......Mom was very humble, always believed in God and was kind to everyone. She never asked for much. Was happy with the simple things in life. She taught us right from wrong, how to respect others and was never judgmental. She always thought of others before herself. She was honest, had integrity and family was always her first priority. She enjoyed gardening, hummingbirds and butterflies, reading, crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy with Chris, camping at Pismo, playing scrabble with her sister Phyllis, and a big bowl of popcorn while watching TV at night. She thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She looked forward to every visit from them! She never said no to babysitting because she loved seeing them so very much and wanted as much time with them as she could get. She was an avid knitter and loved to crochet making us beautiful afghans, scarves and hats. She loved playing board games with us even when we got all silly cracking jokes, messing around and being obnoxious!!! We would always get her to laugh.

Mom and dad were pioneers of a sort. Coming out to California on their own with a suitcase of clothes, a few hundred dollars with no place to stay, finally settling in Whittier where they raised 4 kids. Their pioneering ways didn't stop there. In 1989 mom & dad decided to start their own business selling Crafty Cans spinners and planes. It was always fun showing up at one of their shows and seeing all the people mesmerized by their ingenuity. You could see the pride and joy in their faces. We'll remember all the family and friends that helped out at these shows. These were such good times and mom and dad so enjoyed all of you!

We have so many wonderful memories of our mom and we will embrace these memories in the years to come finding comfort in remembering what a special person she truly was.

A Vigil service will be held at St. Gregory the Great, 13925 Telegraph Rd., Whittier, Ca. 90604 on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 7:00pm, and the Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 10:00am, also at the church. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Mary (Rick) Katherine McKenrick of Brea, Deborah Ann Neighbors of La Habra and Lisa (John) Diane Castro of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and her son, Christopher Neighbors of Whittier. She also leaves 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and her sister, Carol Ott of Florida.
