Ellis Guy Gilmore, Jr., 85, was born in Los Angeles on January 31, 1926 and passed away in Whittier on October 1, 2011.
Mr. Gilmore was previously employed with Rome Cable Corp. as a Sales Manager for 42 years. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and was Honorably Discharged.
He loved sports of all kinds, but played football and baseball at Huntington Park High School and was a graduate of the class of 1944. He played football for Northern Arizona Univ. where he was in the Officer's Corp. and was studying to be a Navy pilot. Ellis then transfered to UCLA where he also played football and received his Bachelor's Degree in English. He and his wife loved to ballroom dance.
Visitation services will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011 from 5-9pm in the Risher Montebello Mortuary Chapel. A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 10:00am in the Risher Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
He is survived by his daughters, Anna Marie Gilmore of Montebello and Marlene Villasenor of Georgia and his son, James Ellis Gilmore of Whittier. He also leaves 5 grandchildren.
