Elvira Candelas de Aguirre, age 77, was born in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico on January 8, 1937 and entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family in Monterey Park, California on December 16, 2014.
She came from a fun loving family of 10 siblings. Her favorite sport as an adolescent and as an adult was baseball. She enjoyed watching baseball and soccer games on television until the very end of her life. Our mom would mention how she was the clean up batter and usually the 4th in the batting line up when she played on her local baseball team in Mexico. She married and came to the United States in 1958 and remained here the rest of her life. She came to this country not speaking the language and overcame lots of obstacles throughout her lifetime and always managed to have a positive outlook on life. That philosophy she instilled in all her children. She opened a family business with her husband in the late 60's which is still in existence today thanks to her hard work and dedication. Her unselfish character and unconditional love will continue to be cherished by her family. Our mom's fun loving, compassionate, independent, spiritual legacy will live on in her husband, in her four daughters, in her one son, and six grandchildren. We will miss you mom but we know your larger than life spirit will guide us the rest of our lives.
Elvira was survived by her loving husband Salvador Aguirre of Monterey Park California, daughter Elvira Aguirre of la Puente, daughter Aracely (Ahmed) Aboulatifa of West Covina, daughter Luz Aguirre of Rosemead, son Salvador (Leticia) Aguirre of Rosemead, and daughter Rocio Aguirre (Julio) Martinez of Los Angeles. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren.
