Ernesto Melchor Diaz was born on February 26, 1958 in Durango, Mexico to Eugenio Melchor and Guadalupe Diaz. Raised in Guaymas, Sonora by his mother and step-father Jose Cruz Hernandez; and entered into eternal rest on April 2, 2019 in Rowland Heights, California. He celebrated 61 years of age.
Ernesto is survived by his beloved Wife, Eva Melchor, Daughter, Diana (Jairo) Vasco, Sons, Lionel (Claudia) and Ivan Melchor, Grandchildren, Esteban Vasco, Aubree-Arienette Melchor, and Elizabeth Vasco, Siblings, Alicia Melchor, Angela Melchor, Armando Hernandez, Luis Hernandez, Juanie Melendez and Maria Hernandez, as well as a vast amount of other family members and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
Having been raised near the coast of Mexico, Ernesto harbored an unbelievable adoration for the sea. While acquiring an insatiable love for mariscos (seafood), his appetite ventured into the transcontinental cuisines, making him a lover of foods from all around the world. Through arduous dedication and hardworking hands, Ernesto worked as an independent contractor for over 40 years. His primary passion was to help his family and friends in need. Outside of work, he loved to spend time at Santa Anita Race track where he spent his happiest years jumping, whistling, and celebrating with his wife and children in tow at the finish line of every race. He was a proud Mexicano de Sonora that understood that though the rest of the world may follow the rules, he followed his heart; leaving behind a legacy that gives meaning to the words, “For even if I’m far away, I hold you in my heart, I sing a secret song to you each night we are part” – Coco.
Ernesto was greeted at the gates of Heaven by his parents, Guadalupe and Jose Cruz Hernandez, and his brother Antonino Melchor.
Visitation and viewing ceremony will be held on Monday, April 8th, 2019 at Risher Montebello Mortuary 1316 Whittier Blvd. Montebello, CA, 90640 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 9th, 2019 at the Church of St. Francis Xavier Parish 4245 S. Acacia Ave. Pico Rivera, CA 90660 at 9:00 A.M.
