Esteban De La Mora, was lovingly known as "Stevie," however, to the people closest to him, he was known as "Rocky," because Stevie was a strong soul and never let anything beat him, a fighter who never gave up, just like Rocky Balboa.
Stevie was born on January 24, 1963 in Los Angeles, California to Roberto De La Mora and Amelia De La Mora and peacefully passed away on May 9, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was 55 years old.
Stevie was met at Heaven's gate by his loving parents, Robert and Ameila De La Mora, who preceded him in death.
Stevie was an avid sports fan, with his favorite sports teams being the Lakers, the Dodgers, and the 49ers. Stevie's presence would light up a room with his contagious smile. One thing that made him smile was his favorite singer, Vicente Fernandez. Some of Stevie's best times were singing alongside a Vicente Fernandez impersonator. Stevie inspired others to try harder. By seeing him work hard to overcome his own challenges, it reminded others to work harder as well. He helped teach us about our own strengths and gifts in this way. He also taught us how to be happy because he took joy in simple things – joy in seeing his family, joy in being the life of the party. We could look to him for an example of perseverance and inner strength. He showed us what it is to be strong, because strength is not just found in being the biggest, the toughest or the fastest. Strength is found in one who keeps on going, keeps trying, day after day, long after others give up. Stevie always wanted to show that he was staying strong, reminding us that, "It don't hurt for me!" Stevie gave us the gift of perspective. He reminded us that most of our problems are not really problems, and to be grateful for what we have. We must savor the sweet, beautiful moments we have every day, because ultimately life is fragile and someday all too soon, we must say goodbye. Stevie will be dearly missed by all those who were blessed to have known him. Stevie's famous words to live by were, "ME CAN DO IT!"
Stevie leaves behind his loving family: Brothers, Tomas De La Mora, Tony De La Mora, Bobby De La Mora, Sister in law, Celie De La Mora, Nephews, Diego, Ian, and Ryan, and his loving niece, as well as several other family members and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
