Eva Velasco, 86, was born on April 23, 1921 in Cement City, Missouri. She was raised in Kansas City, Missouri, San Francisco del Oro and Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico. After her marriage in 1948, she lived in Los Angeles, Montebello and Hesperia, California.
Eva was a loving wife and mother, an inspired homemaker, a good and kind soul. She worked in the garden and made a home for her children. Eva designed and sewed clothes, liked to sing, knit, crochet, garden, cook, preserve fruit, decorate her home and maintain a tidy home. She was always busy, and had many friends. Eva was always a strong role model. Her love, courage and determination ensured the success of her family and her grandchildren have said, "We would not be where we are if not for our Grandmother." Eva agreed to marry Edward Velasco at the Catholic Cathedral in Camargo on August 8, 1948 at 9:00 am. Naturally, their wedding date was their special date. Edward and Eva would call out in unison: "Ocho, ocho cuarenta y ocho," a special date for our family. They were married for almost 59 years.
She is survived by her loving husband, Edward G. Velasco of Montebello, California, daughters, Connie Valdovinos of South Pasadena, California, Maria Elena Velasco of Whittier, California, Martha Velasco of Los Angeles, California, son, Dan Velasco of Montebello, California, brothers, Miguel Garcia of Kansas City, Missouri, Enrique Garcia of Kansas City, Missouri, Roberto Garcia of Tucson, Arizona, sister, Irma Gutierrez of Kansas City, Missouri, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
