Flavia C. Cabrera-Rodgers

Flavia C. Cabrera-Rodgers, 64, of Downey, California went home to be with the Lord on August 14th, 2024.

Flavia was born on October 5th, 1959 in Cuba. At age 10, Flavia immigrated to the USA with her mother, Ana Maria Garcia and her brother, Javier Garcia, eventually making their way to Los Angeles, California.

For all of her life, Flavia has been a passionate individual. In her youth when she was not helping her mother and brother, she found joy in school, excelling as a student and being the gregarious person that she was, participating in cheer, the arts, and dance.

Her passion for people eventually led her to California State University Long Beach, where she graduated as part of the pioneer class for the Master of Social Work Graduate Program. From there, she went on to work in various areas, serving children and families, but eventually found her home at LAUSD.

The majority of her time was at South Gate High School where she left her legacy, but most importantly, where she left her heart. While her title was Psychiatric Social Worker, she wore many different hats and each of them was to assist those around her. Her passion became compassion, and she helped many young children and adults become better versions of themselves each and every day.

While Flavia may have been taken from us too soon, the love and kindness that she instilled and poured into everything that she did still resides in all of us today. She leaves behind a husband, a son, and many dear family and friends, yet her memory and contributions to the world around her will live on forever.
