Fred Chavez Monje was was born on March 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, California to Learuano Monje and Juana Chavez Monje. He entered into eternal rest on February 16, 2020 in Pico Rivera, California at the age of 93.
A legacy is etched in the minds of others and the stories they share.
Fred C. Monje (Lico), He loved his dear wife, Lupe, of 73 years with all his heart, his four children, family, friends and the outdoors. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII at the Mariana Islands in the Pacific.
He lived a long rambunctious life; he tried to do the best he could with what he knew for his time. He loved his cake, coffee, and ice cream. He loved camping and fishing, he was a sucker for a tough motorcycle, smooth whiskey, jazz and Mexican music and could not pass up a classic western movie.
Perhaps his best quality was being a Friend. He liked to talk and share stories.
Because of his life’s circumstances early on; if you were a friend, you were family.
Fred is survived by his beloved children, Rachael Alvarez (Mario) of La Mirada, CA, Robert Monje (Denise) of Susanville, CA, Frank Monje (Cathy) of Liverpool, NY, and Freddie Monje (Roberta) of Apple Valley CA. He leaves behind a legacy of 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one great- great grandson. Fred leaves behind a brother Paul Monje of La Verne, CA, a cousin Elfida Rubio of Victorville, CA as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
