Gary Morris Brower, of Costa Mesa, California, died peacefully on Monday, February 29, 2016, at the Flagship Healthcare Center in Newport Beach, California after a 20-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 82.
Gary was born on April 6, 1933, in Firth, Idaho to mother, Bonnie Belle (Morris) Brower (Chinnici) and father, William Grice Brower. His family moved to Los Angeles, and on March 14, 1952, he married his Manual Arts High School sweetheart, Delores Ann Bombace. They remained married for 64 years. Gary served for 4 years in the Air Force and then enjoyed a 33-year career as an Aerospace Engineer. He retired from the Brunswick Corporation where he dedicated himself to developing and launching government missiles. Like his father, Gary was an avid golfer, and he was passionate about perfecting his long and short game on the courses he loved best. He was a wickedly handsome, witty, and intelligent man, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends who are comforted knowing that he now has access to the most exceptional celestial golf courses and tee times.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved stepfather, Peter Chinnici, and his Great grandson, Exzavier James Alvarez. He is survived by his loving wife, Delores Brower, his two adoring daughters Gail Brower-Nedler (Ken Nedler) and Wendy Wildes (Steve Wildes), his younger brother, Keith Brower and nephew Brian Brower, his grandchildren Nathan Wildes (Star Wildes), Autumn Alvarez (Joshua Alvarez) and Leslie Walz (Charles Walz) and his 11 great grandchildren; Nathaniel, Alanah and Wendy (Wildes), Emery, Scarlett, Hannah and Liberty (Alvarez), Benjamin, Finley, Josephine and Jack (Walz).
A funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church located at 1015 Baker Street, Costa Mesa, Ca. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at the Newport Beach Golf Course Tee Room located at 3100 Irvine Ave, Newport Beach. Gary’s ashes will be interred at the Riverside National Cemetery at a later date.
