George Grant Derry Jr., 78, was born on April 27, 1945, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to Kathleen and George Derry Sr. George entered into his eternal rest on December 2, 2023, in Long Beach, California.
George, a passionate captain and seasoned sailor, had an immense love for the art of sailing. His skills as a captain were truly remarkable, showcasing a profound understanding of navigation and seamanship. The open sea was not just a peaceful getaway for George; it was where his heart found its truest joy.
"George was multi-talented; could sail anywhere he wanted to go, tear down and rebuild an engine, prepare tax returns in the blink of an eye, and smoke the most delicious turkey you will ever eat. Proud to call him "My Brother!"
Our prayers go out to Josie, his loving wife of nearly a half-century. She made George's last days as comfortable as possible, making sure the doctors and nurses did all they could to make him comfortable and keep him alive. In the end, the Lord's calling prevailed and he is now at peace in His presence!"
