Gerson Armando Rivera, Jr., 34, was born on October 13, 1982 in Los Angeles, California to Oscar Rivera and Mayra Menjivar and entered into eternal rest on May 30, 2017 in Downey, California.

Gerson Armando Rivera was unquestionably a genuine man. He had a smile and a handshake for anyone he just met and a loving hug for a friend. He undoubtedly was the best partner anyone could want on their side in life.

Rez was an amazing visionary when it came to constructing a person’s dream for owning a hot rod. Each drawing, mock-up, and piece he created, had a part of his soul in it.

These are a few words his family and friends had to say about him:
“His dream was to have a large family and even a larger pack of dogs. Although neither of these were achieved here on earth, I have no doubt that he is already in Heaven surrounded by 4 legged friends and catching up with the familiar faces of family”. - Patricia “Trish” G

“He was a man with the biggest heart in the world. Selfishness did not exist in his vocabulary. He would go out of his way to help others, accepted people for what they were and never judged”. - Rodger Alonzo

“Gerson, my cousin was so charismatic, very respectful, and he was one of the cousins that loved to converse with me about his hobbies. Especially when we use to talk about classic cars. Because I always loved to talk about cars. I was so happy when he dedicated his time on the car shows. I was amazed when he use to tell me how he use to fix the cars and rebuild them. I had so much love and appreciation for him”. - Miguel Vasquez (his cousin)

“Gerson was a wonderful son to my mom and a loving brother to me. A brother that protected us at all time. He had the most loving, caring heart that most couldn’t understand. When he loved a person whether a friend or a relative, he gave his 100 %. He poured his unconditional love to those around him. He was my protector, my mentor at times and my only brother. I will always treasure those good times and the bad times we overcame together. I love you my brother”. -Dez Rivera

“Monkey as I called him was a great love for me. We had 10 wonderful unforgettable years together that I will cherish forever. He always made sure I was taken care of, safe, and he did the same for others. Through the years, I saw him grow into a wonderful man who always wanted to help others. I’m glad we were able to remain great friends. Love you, you will forever be in my heart”. – Janet

“Primo, thank you for your words of encouragement. For reminding me that it is ok to make my own decisions regardless of what anyone thought. You always said, “you’re a grown woman, do whatever you want”. I am broken that you are gone but I also know that you knew I loved you. I will miss your big bear hugs, your childlike demeanor, the peace that came with your presence, and your gentle heart. I will miss our conversations about love, life, and the future. I promise to take care of Dez and mi tia. I promise I won’t let you down. I will always love you primo”. – Uvence
