He married Vera Moreno on April 18, 1959 and was happily married for 63 years. They had 3 children: Cathy, Gilbert, and Diane.
Gilbert worked at McDonnell Douglas/ Boeing Aircraft in Long Beach, California for 54 years as a tool liaison manager.
Gilbert enjoyed deep sea and freshwater fishing, hunting, bowling, and camping, He also enjoyed watching western movies, NFL and NCAA football, and LA Kings hockey. He loved his chihuahua, Princess Emily.
Gilbert leaves behind his wife, Vera Salazar, Daughter, Cathy Zenzola (and Husband, Tony), Son, Gilbert Salazar (and Fiancé, Alva), Daughter, Diane Fagan (and Husband, Douglas), Granddaughter, Tori, Grandson, Sean, Sister, Dolores Salazar, and Nephew, Paul Salazar.
Special thanks to his caretaker, Angie, who took care of him from 2016-2020, and Misty who took care of him in 2016.
