Giuseppe Brancato

Giuseppe “Pippo” Brancato, 82, passed away while in the comfort of his own home on Saturday, September 26, 2020 in Montebello, California. He was born on January 13, 1938 in Messina, Sicily to Agostino Brancato and Rosa Casale.
Giuseppe served in The Italian Army, and was awarded a Bronze Medal of Military Valor to publicly honor his heroic act of rescuing a young child and fellow comrade from drowning in the canals of Venice. Once he completed his military service, he returned to Sicily to marry the love of his life, Maria Occhino.
After the birth of their children, Concetta, Giovanna and Agostino, the Brancato family uprooted their lives to move to the United States. Giuseppe dedicated his life to his family, and spent over 20 years working as a carpenter to provide for them.
Giuseppe is survived by his loving wife, Maria Brancato, his children, Concetta Smith and Agostino Brancato, and his eight grandchildren, Shelby, Cody, Giancarlo, Francesco, Alexandra, Belmarina, Nicolas and Sofia. He was preceded in death by his daughter Giovanna Sergi.
