Gloria Bonino Childs
April 19, 1923 — November 22, 2017
Aida “Gloria” Bonino Childs was born on April 19, 1923 in Los Angeles, California to Mateo and Maria Bonino. She had two adoring sisters, Mary Jones and Blanche Fornasero who have gone to rest before her along with her loving parents and stepfather Bartolomeo Costa.
Gloria graduated from Franklin High School in 1941. Gloria and Jack met at St. Bernard’s Catholic Club, known as the “Swank Set” and made memories with soon to be life-long friends.
Gloria’s dedication to her faith was an inspiration to Jack as he converted to Catholicism prior to their marriage. Jack and her family will be forever grateful for the gift of faith, the love of God and importance of family which is a legacy that will live on.
Gloria and Jack were married December 2, 1950 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Los Angeles. Their marriage produced three children – Richard, Kathy and Nanette.
She is survived by her loving husband Jack of nearly 67 years, her 3 children – Richard Childs, Kathy Swensson (Jeff), Nanette Hanly (Rick), her 8 grandchildren – Jeremy Monroe (Autumn), Jodi Johnson (Kurt), Lindsey Werner (Danny), Jennifer Swensson, Kyle Berridge (Madison), Matthew Berridge (Brianna), Jennifer Ramos (Richard), Chris Hanly, and 11 great grandchildren – Shelby Siano, Brady Monroe, Jaxson Monroe, Cash Berridge, Brooklyn Ramos, Ariana Berridge, Caleb Werner, Asher Werner, Jameson Ramos, Rex Berridge and Raelyn Werner. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Earl Childs (Darlene), Sister-in-laws, June Yuskiewicz and Juanita Childs and numerous nieces and nephews along with her extensive Italian family abroad.
Gloria was called to her Heavenly Home on November 22, 2017. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
