Gloria Gonzalez Profile Photo
Our dear mother, Gloria Gonzalez, passed away on January 11, 2022, at her home in Los Angeles surrounded by family. She deeply loved us and will always be a part of us. Mom was 82 years old. She was born in San Antonio, Texas, and raised by her parents, Ignacio and Herminia Caballero, on a dairy farm. She graduated from Alamo Heights High School. She was married to our father, Jose Luís Gonzalez, for 63 years. In 1960 they moved to Los Angeles. Their four children are: Denise (Ray), José, Rene, and Michelle (Steve); grandchildren: Kristen, Brooke, Joshua, and Isaac; and great grandchild, Noah. Her siblings are: Rose, Consuelo, Patricia, Ignacio, Jr., and Hilario.

Mom was intelligent, civic minded, and cared about voting. Being fully bilingual, she registered voters in Spanish-speaking communities. She was very good at talking with people with varying political views. In the 1980s, she registered hundreds of new voters.

Mom was a big Dallas Cowboys fan. Thanksgiving always included mom cheering and clapping whenever the Cowboys scored. Meals with mom often included great Mexican food at her kitchen table.

Mom was our matriarch and we will miss her physical presence. In memory of mom, we will host a service when it is safer to gather. Her final resting place will be Rose Hills Memorial Park in Los Angeles.
