Gloria Mungia passed away on October 11, 2010 At El Encanto Nursing and Rehabitation Facility in City of Industry, California . She was 84 yrs old and a resident of El Encanto for the past 3 years. She was born, Gloria Maxima Navarro on November 27, 1925 in Los Angeles, California to Francisco and Natalia Castana Navarro.
As a young student, she became interested in fashion and retail merchandising and for many years, persued a career with Bullocks and I. Magnin Department Stores in Los Angeles. She was a very engaging person which allowed her to connect with her customers and thus become successful in retail sales.
She is survived by her two children, Marie A. Krondak (Dennis) of Montebello, CA and Dr. Joseph Benitez, Jr. (Kathy) of Carmel, IN. There are 5 grandchildren, Sean Krondak (Nani) of Irvine, CA, Eric Krondak (Rosalie) of Laguna Niguel, CA., Jennifer Weisiger (Will) of Indianapolis, IN, Greg Benitez (Amy) of Alexandria, VA, Michelle McDonald (Matt) of Carmel, IN, and nine great-grandchildren and her brother Joe Navarro.
She was preceded in death by her sister Alice Olivarez and brother Frank Navarro as well her husbands, Joe Benitez (1977) and Alexander Mungia (1993).
Mass and a Christian burial is planned at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1345 S. Turnbull Canyon Rd., Hacienda Heights, CA 91745, followed by internment at Resurrection Cemetery and Mausoleum, Archdiocese of Los Angeles., 966 N. Potrero Grande Dr., Montebello, CA 90640.
