Herbert Walter Crump
October 22, 1943 — June 5, 2024
Herbert “Herbie” Crump passed away on June 5, 2024, at the age of 80, in his home in Norwalk, California. Although he suffered serious physical disability as a result of injury during his time in the Marine Corps, Herbie stayed strong until he passed from heart failure.
As a child, Herbie grew up with his mother and sister in Mexico where he learned to speak and read Spanish fluently. He embraced the Hispanic culture of cultivating relationships with others and developed a very strong work ethic.
Herbie met the love of his life, Esther, at the VA hospital. At the time he was shooting pool for a living. Although it wasn’t love at first sight and it took another two years before he asked her out, they’ve been together ever since.
They built a thriving plumbing business together and Herbie passed his knowledge on to his son Rick who is following in his footsteps.
Herbie is survived by Esther, his daughter Brenda, and his son Rick. He was Grandpa Herbie to his four grandchildren Kristen, Chance, Gavyn, and Sydney.
