On Saturday, March 18th, 2023, the Guevara family lost their father. Hipolito Guevara lost his life to a short illness related to throat cancer. He fought valiantly and faced his illness with bravery and humility, with the hope of recovery. He ultimately succumbed to this unforgiving disease.

Hipolito, known as Polo to his friends and family, was born on August 13th, 1954 in Carlos Real, Durango, Mexico. He was raised by his maternal grandparents while his single mother left the small town to find work in the nearby city of Durango, in order to help support her newborn child. He eventually migrated to the United States with the help of his paternal Uncle and settled in Los Angeles. He fell in love and soon married his wife, Carmen Guevara, and together their raised their 4 children over the next 50 years.

Polo was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He loved a good joke and those that he loved the most would be retold by him over and over again. He was liked by all who met him, and fiercely loved by those closest to him. He was extremely hard working and unafraid of physical labor. He was a confident and selfless husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was respected by all who met him and an enemy to no one.

Polo is survived by his wife Carmen Guevara; his son Joey Guevara; his daughters Christina Guevara, Veronica Guevara, Mariah Guevara. Grandchildren- Victoria, Isaac, Christian, Julian, Zayas, Avery, Cierra, Adrienne, Christopher, Rene, Jose, Faith, and one more on the way. Hipolito is also survived by his Siblings- Felipe, Cecilio, Alejandro, Valentine, Manuel, Chevo, Tomasa, and Maria and numerous nieces and nephews. His devotion, love and loyalty to his family were evident in his final moments. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him the most.

Hipolito was met at Heaven's gates with his Parents- Benjamin Arellano and Maria Cristina Guevara, Granddaughter- Alexis, Grand triplets- Savannah May, Celeste May, and Jose, Brothers- Juan and Jose, Mother-in-Law- Martha Zayas Solis, Sister-in-Law- Mary Isabel Solis, and Brother-in-Law- Joe Zayas Solis.
