Hubert True, 99, was born on March 2, 1924, in Hannibal, Missouri to Ora Silas True and Nellie Haskins. Hubert entered into eternal rest on April 30, 2023, in Pasadena, California.
Duke was a quiet jokester. He was always waiting for the perfect moment to flash his signature smile. He enjoyed the bright lights and excitement of Las Vegas and taught all of his granddaughters how to work a casino floor. He liked watching sports especially when it involved the St. Louis Cardinals or his beloved Kansas City Chiefs. He made his way to the ponies whenever he could, flitting from a group of regulars to catch up on the scene. His Sundays were spent patiently waiting for his weekly visit from his grandson Austin. He enjoyed his “second” career in assisting his son-in-law with his veterinary practices until well into his late nineties. He made many friends there and was well-loved by his co-workers. He loved taking cruises, traveling all over the world, and an occasional trip to return to his birthplace in Missouri. All these activities would be dropped in a moment, though, if Duke was ever presented with an opportunity to spend time with the girls who made his world, which included his beloved wife Dorothy of 68 years, his daughter, and the four granddaughters all of whom he could never quit wondering at.
Hubert is survived by his loving family: Wife, Dorothy Elizabeth True, Daughter, Debra (John) True Casillas, Grandchildren, Alexis Casillas, Vanessa Caulfield, Taylor Casillas, Catherine Casillas, and Austin Casillas, Step Grandchildren, Connie Casillas, Isabel Casillas Guzman, Juan Casillas Jr., and Esiquio Casillas, and great-grandchildren, Clara Segall, Jack Caulfield, Silas Segal, and 13 additional step-grandchildren. Hubert will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
