Hunter Morgan Hertel, 27, was born on June 9, 1991 in Idaho to David Hertel and Lisa Laajala and entered into eternal rest on April 22, 2019 in Los Angeles, California.
Hunter loved spending time outdoors snowboarding, hiking in the mountains, and playing and surfing at the beach and camping in the mountains and the beach. He was a natural athlete who played many team sports early in life, including football, basketball, baseball, ice hockey and lacrosse. Wherever he went he took music and became a fan of rap and hip hop at a young age. He was generous and enjoyed spending time with friends joking around and just being together. His smile radiated genuine warmth; he was full of love and not afraid to express it to those around him.
While he expressed his creativity through drawing, writing, videoing on his iPhone and even crocheting, his creativity was most apparent in his vibrant sense of humor. It’s been described as “observational,” “situational,” “sarcastic,” and “he would say stuff to make himself laugh and it just so happened to be really funny.” He enjoyed making those around him laugh all the time. Hunter faced many challenges throughout his life, including Type 1 Diabetes, which he managed with great resolve for over 17 years.
Hunter leaves behind his loving family: Father, David Hertel of Idaho, Mother, Lisa Laajala of Los Angeles, California, Sister, Serena Hertel of Los Angeles, California, Grandmother, Jane Hertel of Wisconsin, Grandparents, Ed and Mary Lajala of Arizona, as well as several other family members and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
