James Lloyd Geraghty, 53, was born Jimmie Treadway, in Charlotte, North Carolina on October 25, 1960. His parents divorced when he was around seven years old. He moved to Florida with his mom and siblings. Jimmie's mom later married Paul Geraghty. Jimmie and his brother Jaime were adopted by their step-father and they changed his name to James Lloyd Geraghty. Everyone close to James called him "Jimmie."

Their new family traveled down through Mexico for six months looking for the perfect place to live on a military pension. They settled in Guatemala. Jimmie spent four years, ages 13 to 17, living there. He and his brother were inseparable and learned to speak fluent Spanish. The family built their house, and the boys learned from university biologists working in their rain forest and he read many books. Jimmie and Jaime spent a few months in a boarding school where they experienced the great 7.5 earthquake in Guatemala City in 1976.

Jimmie returned back to the states, tested for placement in high school and graduated from Olympic High School on time as if he never missed any school. He then joined the United States Army and served as a Telecommunications Center Operator at Fort Gordon, Georgia. Once out of the Army, Jimmie went to Full Sail University to become a recording engineer. His hobby at this time was teaching himself computers. Before leaving Florida, Jimmie accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He moved out to California in 1987 and started working for the Los Angeles Superior Court Jury Services Division as the computer technician.

Jimmie and Kim met in the Norwalk Superior Court Jury room, where Kim worked. They fell in love and had their daughter Cassandra in November 1991. Jimmie and Kim married in 1992 and had another child, Jimmie in October 1994. In 1997, Jimmie stopped working for the Superior Court and became self employed. Later that year, Jimmie and Kim rededicated their lives to the Lord. In 2001, Kim left the court to help Jimmie run their business, Computer Start. Jimmie enjoyed traveling and working on computers. They took many family vacations, some abroad and some state side. He worked many long hours to provide for his family, but also because he loved his job so much. Many people have heard Jimmie say β€œIt’s like I'm not even working on computers, but instead playing with them.”

In 2008, Jimmie and Kim separated and later divorced. Jimmie spent the next few years re-discovering who he was. Jimmie found a new passion, motorcycles. He did not own a motorcycle for too many years of his life, but every moment he could get on and ride one he would. He would ride it to work, around town, on road trips, with family, with friends, and even with strangers. He loved riding so much it pained him to hear them when he could no longer ride.
This was also a time for him to really become the godly man everyone knows him as today. His relationship with the Lord grew through his regular attendance at church and CR meetings and step study. Jimmie was an outgoing man always meeting new people and sharing his love for his children and the Lord.

In November 2012, Jimmie was diagnosed with stage 4 Esophageal Cancer that had spread to his lymph nodes. He started chemo therapy right away. During this time, Jimmie and Kim were rebuilding their relationship...God's plan all along. In April 2014, the doctors discovered that the cancer had spread to his brain. May 10th Jimmie was hospitalized after having several seizures in a short period of time. He was no longer able to live on his own and Kim offered to care for him. The family was back together again but God had some fine tuning to do and they saw God's hand in their midst and working until at the prompting of the Holy Spirit, Jimmie and Kim remarried on July 22, 2014. On July 24, 2014, Jimmie went home to be with the Lord; his family by his side. This was a beautiful orchestration of God's love and healing powers in our lives.

Jimmie is survived by his loving wife, Lamona Kim Geraghty of Whittier, his daughter, Cassandra Nichole Geraghty and his son, Jimmie Allen Geraghty, both of Whittier. He also leaves his mother, Mary Juanita Geraghty of Las Vegas, his sisters Debbie Treadway of Van Nuys, Donna (Tom) Lemke of Monroe, North Carolina, and Paula (John) Richey and his brother, Jaime Geraghty of Florida.
