James J Samarin

James J. Samarin, 96 was born in Los Angeles on January 8, 1917 and passed away in Montebello on February 15, 2013. Mr. Samarin was a fire sprinkler fitter for over 40 years and served in the United States Navy during World War II. James was known for always going out of his way to help anyone for anything. His hobbies included working on locks and keys and he enjoyed doing yardwork. He took pride in his 19 fruit and avocado trees, along with his love for canning anything from cucumbers to tomatoes.
Mr. Samarin is survived by his daughter Margaret Colburn of Montebello, sons James J. Samarin Jr of La Mirada, Greg Samarin and William Samarin both of Whittier. He is predeceased by his loving wife Hazel Samarin who passed away in 2011.
Dressing and prayers will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 3:00 pm in the Risher Montebello Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 1:00pm at the Russian Molokan Cemetery Chapel.
