Janet Zuniga Brandstetter was born in Monterey Park, Ca. on September 22, 1941 and passed away in Pasadena, Ca. on March 24, 2013 at the age of 71.

Janet was a devoted Air Force wife, a Registered Nurse of 30 years and was a Lifetime Member of the Girl Scouts of the USA. She was a proud Girl Scout for over 60 years and a member of the Silver Trefoils, leading her own troop for 15 of those years. Janet also played an active role in the Boy Scouts of America through the involvement of her four sons.

Janet is survived by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Melvin Louis Brandstetter of Rosemead, her sons, John Clayton (Gina) Brandstetter of Montclair, James Christian (Christina) Brandstetter of Rosemead, Joseph Carl Brandstetter of Rosemead, her daughter, Janet Catherine (Patrick) Gleason of Montebello and her son, Jacob Carlyle Brandstetter of Rosemead. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, which she loved dearly. Additionally, Janet leaves behind lifelong friends and travel buddies, Ken and Jeanette Vanderboch of Valencia, close friends Roger and Fran Trainor of Tucson, Az and friend of the family, Donald Wendt of Montebello.

Janet was a lover of simple things, such as her favorite candy, Jujubes. But more than that, she was an avid lover of travel, both nationally and internationally. In her lifetime, she visited each of the 50 United States, numerous countries, even living in Germany with her husband at Zweibrucken AB Germany for over three years along with her son John and (James who was born there). In her later years, she focused on traveling by car and by cruise ships with her husband and handicapped son Jacob and was joined in many of these adventures with other family and friends. A couple of her favorite things besides traveling included, collecting Girl Scout & Disney memorabilia, Barbie's and Beanie Babies.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 5:00-9:00pm in the Risher Montebello Mortuary Chapel with a Catholic Vigil at 7:00pm in the Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 9:00am at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
