Jean R. Wilkens Profile Photo
Jean R. Wilkens, 100, was born on August 5, 1916 in Nebraska to George Scott and Florence Mahan and entered into eternal rest on May 4, 2017 in Montebello, California. Jean was met at Heaven's gate by her brother, Robert Scott.

Jean was a dedicated receptionist for an architectural supplies company for over 35 years.
Jean Wilkens came to Los Angeles from Pawnee City, Nebraska, as a teenager in 1933. She graduated from George Washington High School and LA City College and moved to Montebello in 1941. After divorcing in 1950, her former husband Bernard Wilkens passed away in 1954, leaving her to raise daughter Maureen as a single mother. She worked as a receptionist for Dieterich Post Architectural Supplies, retiring in 1983. She would tackle any job from painting the outside of the house to replacing the water pump on our old car. Jean started oil painting in the sixties and joined the Southland Art Association, where she won many awards over the years. She was an animal lover and always had dogs and cats. She was also the one in the neighborhood who would trap feral cats and have them neutered to stop population growth. She was loved by her neighbors and daughter 's family of in-laws, but deceased by many of her friends.
